Music

We look forward to the times ahead, when we can gather in person once again, and share our voices and music for the glory of God!

For now, all in-person activities are cancelled.

Whether you join in the singing from the congregation or as a member of our accomplished choir, there is no question that music is a central part of our worship and celebration of our faith here at St James. From the reverent to the joyous, the St James Choir enriches our liturgy with music ranging from plainsong and Anglican Chant and Tudor motets to Anglican music of the 21st Century.

LEND YOUR VOICE

When it is safe to do so, our St James Choir will return to its schedule, meeting for rehearsal on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9pm in the undercroft (Parish Hall) and singing at the 10am Choral Eucharist on Sunday mornings from September to May. There is a brief morning rehearsal at 9:15, before the 10am service.

Membership in the choir is open to those with previous singing experience and a desire to meet for regular practice in singing a classical liturgical repertoire. Several services of Choral Evensong each year as well as other opportunities exist for the choir to sing outside of regular Sunday observances. The Choirmaster is available by appointment for assistance with vocal training or learning music in our repertoire. Please contact Bill at stjames.office@verizon.net.

LEND A HAND
Expenses associated with maintaining our choir include sheet music, royalties, occasional freelance musical assistance (guest instrumentalists, vocalists, etc), and maintenance (to keep our physical pipes in good working conditions). Your contribution to the St James Church Music Fund will help us continue to provide the inspiring sounds that enhance all of the services that take place in our church.

For more information, please contact William Harris, Organist and Choirmaster, at stjames.office@verizon.net.  We will forward your e-mail directly to Bill for response.
