There are so many ways that members can expand and enrich their experience with Saint James Church. If you have a special talent or interest, why not put it to use? The time you give will be given back to you in the form of new friends and the pride and satisfaction that comes from being one of our community’s many points of light.
Here are some of the groups and activities that are always eager to welcome a new participant:
Lay Eucharistic Visitor – LEVs and friends visit members of our community on Sunday and throughout the week, bearing everyone’s prayers and best wishes. You are invited to be a part of this ministry! If interested, talk to Reverend Dee about this powerful ministry. All LEVs must be Safe Church trained.
Altar Flowers – Are you interested in providing floral tributes? You may sign up to provide funds or supplies for altar flowers and other ways of beautifying our church. Our volunteers will work with you, or for you, to create a beautiful tribute. Please contact the Office to reserve your choice of dates.
Choir – Are volunteer choir under the direction of Matt Siess is one of the blessings of our Sunday morning worship. Come, join, and sing God’s truths.
Christian Education – St. James is proud of its formation program for its young members. Called “Godly Play,” this Montessori based curriculum involves the young people in a thoughtful and hands-on introduction to the basic scriptures and theologies of the Christian Faith as it prepares them for the joys and challenges of their lives. New teacher and participants will be welcomed and trained.
Youth Ministry – St. James is blessed with a vibrant youth group, whether serving at the liturgy, helping with teaching and hospitality, hanging in their own “youth room,” helping with outreach, or celebrating the summer at the Diocesan Camp and Conference Center (www.bch.org), these young people are central to the life our our parish. Leaders and members are always welcome.
Hospitality - You don’t have to be a great cook to be part of the St. James Hospitality program. Just put on a smile and an apron and have fun taking your turn at hosting a coffee hour. For details about what’s involved, contact the office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
St. James Buddies - When our young adults head off to college or move away for other reasons, members of our St. James family support them in their transition. This might include a card to celebrate a holiday or a goodie package. If you would like more information or are interested in participating either by becoming a buddy or by supporting this program financially, please contact Pat McBride at stjames.clergy@verizon.
