There is something for everyone! Online Registration will begin in August for this event, and will be available through the diocesan website – www.diomass.org.

Cost, which includes lunch, will be $15.00 per person.

Starting this Sunday, May 30th, 2010, we will switching over to our summer worship schedule.  There will be only one service held at 9:30AM on Sundays for the summer.  Come dressed for the beach, casual dress is appropriate.  The Summer schedule will run from Memorial day to Labor day.

The choir and organist will be taking a well deserved vacation for the summer services.  However, there is a sign up sheet, which is still pretty much open, for all the musically and not so musically talented individuals that would like to share whatever gifts that they would have to offer.  We are not American Idol, so there will be no judging.  Please share with us, we cannot wait to hear our community sing!!!

4) Speaking of Emery House…our CSA membership collected our share of the harvest this week and delivered fresh produce to Our Neighbor’s Table! Special thanks to Mort Gilbert and David Weller, members of the Thursday Men’s Group, who picked up and delivered. Everyone is welcome to sign up to help pick up and deliver our ‘First Fruits’!

5) Operation Backpack: The Pettengill House is gearing up again for Operation Backpack, our annual school supplies drive. What We Need: Backpacks and school supplies for students in Pre-K through Grade 12. This includes backpacks for all ages, notebooks, binders, loose-leaf paper, markers, scissors, colored pencils, pencils, pens, highlighters, erasers, book covers, pencil cases, rulers, crayons, pencil sharpeners, folders, glue, protractors, graph paper, calculators, index cards, etc. Distribution of backpacks and supplies will begin the week of August 16, 2010

The stated purpose for this group is:
- An informal gathering that meet for conversation
- We have no agenda except to respect each other’s privacy and opinions
- Age and experience are not an issue.

All men are welcome – members in the past have ranged from high school students to seniors!

Come check us out every Thursday at 4:00 pm.

A note from CSA:
This nice cool, damp weather has been great for our succession plantings of lettuce, spinach, beets and carrots. The nice warm, dry days have done wonders for the strawberries, and the big event of the late spring:the Raspberries. They are here. Barely, but here.

A couple of notes:

1. If you can try to time your pick up for 3:00, we’ll be doing a
bug hunt in the potatoes. (It involves the squishing of lots of bugs, so avoid 3:00 - 3:30 pickups if that is a problem).

2. A prettier newsletter will be starting soon. It will tell you what to expect in your share, will include some recipes, and will help you learn more about what we do and how your food gets to be sooooooo good.

3. Pencil in Saturday June 26 from 9:00 AM – 1:00PM for a class on composting, a little bit of work and a celebratory, season opening, solsticey pot-luck picnic.

4. If you collect compost (or are hoping to start), and you do not have a good place to keep it, feel free to bring it with you on Thursdays. You can dump it in our big heap.
