Make your way to northeastern Massachusetts by way of Routes 495, 95, or 110 – St. James is the fieldstone church on the right, at 120 Main Street, in downtown Amesbury, Massachusetts, 01913.

If you choose Route 95, take Exit 58B to Route 110 West. Go through two sets of lights. At the third set of lights (Cumberland Farms, Provident Bank), take a right. You are on Main Street. Go uphill to the next set of lights and get in the right-hand lane. Turn right (you are still on Main Street; it has taken a sharp right. The street in front of you, across the intersection, is now named School Street). St. James is the stone church just down Main Street, on your right.

If you come via Route 495, take Exit 54. Take a right at the end of the off ramp (this street is Route 150; no street name), to Route 110. Go straight through the lights, crossing Route 110, staying on Route 150, now called Hillside Avenue. Keep on this road for about a mile, passing blinking yellow lights; stay on it as it angles to the right, and its name becomes Sparhawk Street. Follow down and uphill to the stop lights (Holy Family church on your left; you’ll see a gazebo across the street, to the left) – go straight across; this is Main Street. St. James is the stone church just down Main Street, on your right.

(FYI, when you are at the stop light, Main Street is not only in front of you, but also to your right! Main Street makes a sharp right between the gazebo and the bank – and then, a block later, is named Market Street.)

PARKING: On-street parking, as available, is free; or take the next right after the church – Aubin Street – to the second parking lot on the right (belongs to St. James; no fee, but spaces are limited). Walk back uphill to our front door on Main Street, or you are welcome to enter through the church hall’s back door, taking the stairs up two flights (through classrooms and Parish Hall) to the Sanctuary. Municipal parking lots (free) are located within walking distance, on Water Street and Friend Street.
